SUICIDE IN YOUNG MENThere are an increasing number of males in their mid-20s to 30s, who are taking their lives. Overriding freeway accidents, drug over doses and alcohol-related problems, suicide takes the lead in being the largest cause of death among the male population of young adults. This may be due to the fact that there is also a large increase in depression rates among the young adult male population. Governments have started to look into this so called "generational phenomenon". They have also started to plan some initiatives, including the different support help that these young men can access. CAN DEPRESSION BE TREATED?Fortunately, depression can be treated. However, in order for it to be treated in time, people must not remain ignorant about it. Instead, they should be aware of the consequences that entails, if they do not do anything about it. Research has shown that in the majority of depression cases, huge quantities of alcohol and drug abuse have been the cause further complications. WHY MALES?Depression often hits the male population more often as compared to that of the female population. This may be due to the fact that males are less emotional than the females. This however does not mean that they have no emotions! They do, but they often want to portray and keep a macho outlook, showing the outside world that they are taking everything in their stride. Hence to keep this "image" of themselves, they would resort to huge consumption of alcohol to 'drown their sorrows'. Women however, often rally support around her and share her burdens with her group of friends. Hence chances of her buying alcohol to 'drown her sorrows' would lessen considerably. 10 SIGNS OF DEPRESSION.
